Sunday Igboho ‘arrested’ in Cotonou

Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been reportedly arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives.

Igboho was said to been arrested Monday night while attempting to leave Nigeria for Germany through Cotonou.

He was, however, nabbed by security operatives in the neighbouring country.

The Department of State Services (DSS) raided the residence of Igboho in Ibadan, Oyo state on July 1, two days before his planned Yoruba nation rally in Lagos.

The DSS raided the residence, killing two people and arresting 12 aides. But Igboho escaped.

The agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted. He has been on the run since the raid.

The DSS is however yet to confirm his arrest.
