STAKEHOLDERS URGE WEALTHY NIGERIANS TO ADOPT AND FUND SMALL BUSINESSES TO REDUCE YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT

To tackle the menace of unemployment in the country, stakeholders have called on wealthy Nigerians to invest more in medium and small scale enterprises MSMEs and give opportunities to upcoming entrepreneurs in the country.

This was the subject of discourse at the 4th edition of the A.J Agoro entrepreneurship lecture series titled SMS funding, a catalyst for Nigeria’s economic growth- the way forward in Lagos.

Speaking on factors that work against the growth of entrepreneurship in Nigeria despite the availability of funds, the director of enterprise development centre in the Pan Atlantic university, Peter Bamidele said lack of corporate governance and networking is the cause of major backlash to the businesses in the country.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of transportation who represented the deputy governor of Lagos state obafemi Hamzat said the Lagos State government is intensifying efforts to provide funding to MSMEs in the state.
