Less than 48 hours after the military deployed troops attached to Operation Safe Haven to southern Kaduna, to address wanton attacks and killings in the region, the Nigerian Airforce has sent in additional special forces to the region.
The air troops are expected to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Army troops by providing both ground and air power during the operation against the criminal elements.
Addressing the troops before their deployment on Sunday, Air Officer Commanding, NAF, Training Command, Air Marshal Musa Mukhtar, warned them to respect the human rights of the people of Southern Kaduna during the operation.
Bandits and suspected ethnic militia have been terrorising southern Kaduna for months killing hundreds and displacing thousands from various communities.
The deployment comes as the military steps up operation to combat the rising attacks in the region.
