Silver lining ahead as minister of education says University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) better than IPPIS


One of the major disagreement between the Federal government and the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU may have been resolved.

This comes as the minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, at a briefing held at the presidential villa on Thursday, explained that after intensive testing, the committee finds UTAS and  U3 PS are better than IPPIS.

The minister however clarified that government has not approved the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) as the payment platform of lecturers

The minister also insisted that he will not succumb to ASUU’s demand for their members to be paid the backlog of salaries withheld within the period of the six months strike period, saying that it is the penalty for their action.

Adamu also disclosed that five of the university-based unions will likely call off their strike within the next one week while that of ASUU remains uncertain.
