SERAP releases report on environmental degradation in the Niger Delta region

Despite the wealth it holds and provides to the nation, the Niger Delta region has constantly suffered various forms of crisis ranging from environmental degradation, under development, insecurity, poverty amongst others.

To this end, the Socio-Economic rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has organised a Report Presentation and Interactive Session to promote transparency and accountability in the region.

According to the report, access to a clean, safe and healthy environment as a human right has been violated due to lack of transparency and accountability.

While highlighting the effects of environmental degradation in the region, the group called on relevant agencies to tackle issues of intervention projects which have failed to yield positive results over the years.
