The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Tanko Mohammed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Tanko was confirmed after he was screened by the entire committee of the Senate on Wednesday.

He officially replaces former Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen who retired following allegations of corruption and false assets declaration.
