Rising cost of production: Bakers threaten shutdown as price, others soar

The recent increase in the price of diesel which hit several parts of the country is taking a toll on the production of bread and has now transformed into an increase in the price of the staple food.

Operators of bakeries across the country complain of running at a loss while also struggling to stay in business.

They appealed for intervention from the Federal Government to help push down the price of diesel so the commodity can be more affordable.
