Another petrol tanker has exploded along Enugu-Onitsha expressway by Bessoy filling station, Onitsha, Anambra state.
The incident comes barely 48 hours after a fuel tanker burst into flames after falling into a ditch in Upper Iweka and Ochanja market in Onitsha.
The fresh accident reportedly occurred around Omaba Phase 2 at the wee hours of Friday.
The inferno began after the tanker carrying petrol fell in the middle of the road, spilling its contents along the drainages.
Properties worth millions, including buildings, vehicles and other valuable were reportedly gutted by the fire.
No casualty figure has been confirmed from the incident as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the state Police commissioner, John Abang has confirmed the incident.
Wednesday’s explosion left at least three people killed, with dozens of shops razed down.
The state government has now set up an investigative panel to probe the cause of the inferno and why the fire was not put out on time, while also assisting traders who lost their means of livelihood to the mishap.
