President Buhari says FG would treat bandits as terrorists


President Muhammadu Buhari has described the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-east region of the country as bandits

In a statement by his special adviser, Buhari said his administration would continue to treat the insurgents as such as the Federal Government steps up efforts the fight against insurgency in the region.

“Boko Haram has been degraded, but its members are still a nuisance around Lake Chad and surrounding islands”, Femi Adesina said.

The president however condemned the politicization of the security situation in Nigeria.

He made the comments while hosting President of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer in Abuja.

The president also revealed that Nigeria is cooperating with Chad, Cameroon, Niger Republic, and other countries to win the war against insurgents.

He also applauded the support of the ICRC and other humanitarian organizations in providing humanitarian support to those affected by the insurgency.
