President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a stern warning to those bent on destroying the country through promoting insurrection, and burning down critical national assets.
President Buhari says a rude shock awaits those perpetrating the criminal acts very soon.
The President issued the warning after he received briefing from Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on series of attacks on facilities of the electoral body around the country.
He says who says he receives reports of the attacks daily noted that the those behind the criminal acts clearly want his administration to fail.
President Buhari said, “Insecurity in Nigeria is now mentioned all over the world. All the people who want power, whoever they are, you wonder what they really want. Whoever wants the destruction of the system will soon have the shock of their lives. We’ve given them enough time.”
President Buhari recalled that he visited all the 36 states of the federation before the 2019 elections and the people believed in him which was proved by the 2019 presidential election.
He however promised to continue leading the country in accordance with constitutional provisions.
The president noted that the unscrupulous elements are obviously too young to know the travails and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian civil war promising that the security agencies will go harder on them really soon.
He however maintained that the government will provide the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with everything it needs to conduct all future elections as there will be no excuse for failure.
