The Trade Union Congress, TUC has announced plans to stage on a protest against the hike in fuel price and electricity tariff.
Chika Onuegbu, Deputy National President of the TUC, confirmed the planned protest.
According to him, members of the TUC across the country will be mobilised for the protest coming up on Tuesday.
Onuegbu who was speaking to Punch newspapers said the hike is coming at a time when Nigerians are facing so much hardship and restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“The increase in fuel price is an extra burden on us and our families; the increase in electricity tariff is an extra burden on us and our families; the increase in Value Added Tax is an extra burden on us and our families; and the general increase in food prices.
The union has asked federal Government to reverse the fuel price and electricity tariff. They warned that if their demands are not met, they might be forced to proceeded on an industrial action.
The ex-depot price of petrol was recently increased from N138 to 151 per litre.
