Policeman killed in Lagos Island building collapse


One policeman has been confirmed dead in the collapse of the front section of a six-storey building engulfed by fire on Tuesday in Lagos Island.

Part of the six-storey building located at 43 Martins Street, Lagos Island, collapsed on Tuesday night as firemen continued efforts to put out the fire.

The policemen, who had been controlling the crowd at the scene, was injured after part of the burning building collapsed on him.

Confirming the death, Olanrewaju Elegushi, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Lagos Central Business District, told said the policeman later died in the hospital following injuries sustained in the building collapse.
