Police arrest five Shiites in yet another Abuja protest

There has been another clash with the members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) with the Police at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, Thursday.

Eye witnesses say the police dispersed the protesters by firing gunshots and tear gas canisters at them.

The security operatives were able to detain 5 members of Shiite sect during the protest.

Pandemonium ensued in Abuja, as commuters and motorist panicked during the clash.

The protesters later regrouped at another location to continue with their protest.

This comes after IMN members allegedly invaded the National Assembly complex, during which 9 persons including two police men lost their lives. The police however arrested forty of the protesters on Tuesday.
