The end to the crisis rocking the opposition, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) might be in view as members of the party’s Board of Trustees met with Governor Nyesom Wike on Tuesday.

At the end of the almost four-hour closed door meeting in Government House, Port Harcourt which ended at about 4:35 pm, the attendees came out smiling and exchanging banters before newsmen.

Acting Chairman of the PDP BoT, Senator Adolphus Wabara, who briefed newsmen said they had a frank discussion but that no conclusion has been reached.

He said, “We have not concluded. You know it is always easy to discuss. But to make peace takes sometime.

“We are better informed. We have gotten some new information. Every coin has two sides. In concrete terms, it is work in progress.”

On his part, Governor Nyesom Wike said,

“The most important thing is to have peace,” Wike said. “The house is united. I am hopeful we will resolve the issues, because I am alive.

“Only those who are alive are hopeful. We have said repeatedly that we will no leave the party. We believe the internal issues will be resolved.”

For months, Wike and his allies have called for the resignation of PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, after Atiku defeaed the Rivers State governor at the PDP primary in May and emerged the presidential candidate of the party.

Wike and his loyalists have argued that northerners cannot hold the two most important posts in the main opposition party.
