The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) challenging the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2019 presidential election.
This follows a request by counsel to the party Aliyu Lemu who filed the request before the tribunal at resumed hearing of the case on Wednesday.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Mohammed Garba after listening to all parties in the suit approved the request.
In his ruling, he said, “we find it expedient to grant the application as prayed. It is granted and leave is given to the petitioners to withdraw the petition and as a consequence, the petition is dismissed.”
The PDM had been thrown into chaos after the request of the Party Chairman and some other members to withdraw the case before the Tribunal was opposed by its presidential candidate, Habu Aminchi and some other members of the party.
