Party politics: Group demands zoning of presidential ticket to the south

Still in politics… The demands by a group, the Concern Nigerian Citizens, on the need to zone the presidential ticket to the South has faced mixed reactions by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

While the APC accepted the letter with a promise to act on the group’s demand, the group said the opposition party refused to listen to their demands.

Speaking to journalists, the convener of the group, Femi Osa-binu explained that while the request was not aimed to blackmail the parties, the move was to ensure that the next democratic dis-pensation is rooted in equity, fairness and justice.

On his part, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, while addressing the protesters, reiterated the party’s position on the issue of zoning. He further urged the group to exercise patience pending the outcome of the party’s decision.
