Padded budget: Relevant agencies should begin to look more into affairs of the civil service – Chude


The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has disclosed that the 2021 budget totaling ₦13.59 trillion naira was padded by civil servants in the various Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies with duplicated projects worth ₦300 billion naira.

The Chairman of the anti- graft agency, Bolaji Owasanoye, who made this known on Thursday during an interface with the Senate Committee on Finance, also disclosed that project duplication worth N100bn were also inserted into the N17.12trn 2022 budget by some MDAs.

Additionally, the anti-graft agency said ₦49.9 billion naira was tracked as salaries paid to ghost workers between January and June this year.

He further advised relevant committees of the National Assembly to be on the lookout for such projects duplication in the proposed N19.76 trillion 2023 budget.
