The Federal Government has announced that security operatives have recaptured some of the inmates that escaped from the Oyo Correctional Centre on Friday night.
This was made known in a statement by the Media Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Sola Fasure.
Although the number of the escaped inmates is yet to be ascertained, the media spokesperson explained that some of them have been recaptured in a manhunt by the security agencies.
Fasure thereafter added that some of the inmates also returned voluntarily.
The statement however did not the reveal the exact amount of those recaptured and the ones that returned voluntarily.
He noted that the minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola is abreast of the situation and the Comptroller-General of the service has been on the situation since the incident occurred.
He thereafter assured residents of the area to go about their normal business without fear urging them to report any suspicious movement or signs of the escaped inmates to the security.
Gunmen broke into the Oyo State Custodial Centre located in Oyo Town late Friday night blasting their way into the facility and in the process, several suspected criminals awaiting trial were freed.
