Oyo discharges index coronavirus patient


Just hours after Governor Seyi Makinde tested positive for the virus, Oyo state has discharged it index coronavirus patient.

The patient whose identity was not disclosed was discharged on Tuesday after six days of treatment.

Taiwo Adisa, chief press secretary to the state governor in a statement released on Tuesday said the patient tested negative to the virus twice before he was discharged.

The index case in the state was reported on March 21. The patient had a travel history to the United Kingdom.

According to the state government, the patient was released consequently upon the completion of his treatment at Agbami Chest Hospital isolation centre, Ibadan.

This brings the number of recovered coronavirus patients in Nigeria to Nine.
