The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has demanded an “unreserved apology” from PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi following his claim that APC members had advance knowledge of the Election Petition Tribunal’s verdict affirming Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s win.
The tribunal, presided over by Justice Benson Ogbu, dismissed Ajayi’s petition on June 4 citing lack of merit and inconsistencies
Ajayi alleged that APC supporters had celebrated in Akure streets before the verdict was read, suggesting a possible leak.
The party’s media director, Steve Otaloro, described the accusations as “an unfortunate comment that serves as an unwarranted assault on the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system,” insisting that it disrespects voters and the judiciary
He also emphasized that the PDP should apologise to both the courts and Ondo electorates, reaffirming the party’s overwhelming victory across the 18 local government areas .
While Ajayi remains determined to appeal, saying the tribunal “did not give proper analysis to details of the evidence,” APC’s stance casts doubt on PDP’s handling of the dispute.
