Already slated to face Kwara in the men’s football final at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex on Tuesday (today), Team Ogun has now booked places in the men’s and women’s finals of basketball, volleyball, and handball as well.
Team Ogun showcased their prowess across multiple semi-final matchups held at the Alake Sports Complex, aiming to bolster their position on the medals table.
In women’s basketball, Ogun edged Lagos in a tightly contested semi-final, winning 45-44. Lagos led for most of the game, but Monisola Tewogbade sealed the comeback with a dramatic last-second three-pointer. Ogun will now face Bayelsa in the final, after Bayelsa thrashed Ondo 62-28.
Their male counterparts also secured their place in the final with a 71-66 win over Adamawa earlier in the day.
In women’s volleyball, Ogun cruised past Kogi 3-0 (25-8, 25-23, 25-19) in the semi-final and will meet Rivers State in the final. Ogun had previously defeated Rivers in the group stage. Rivers earned their spot with a straight-set win over Oyo (25-11, 25-21, 27-25).
Ogun’s men’s volleyball team also triumphed, beating Bayelsa 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-16, 25-17). They will now take on Plateau State, who came from behind to beat Ondo in the other semi-final.
