Nigeria’s COVID-19 case exceeds 40k benchmark


Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases have exceeded 40,000 after it recorded 555 new cases on Sunday.

The total confirmed cases in Nigeria now stands at 40, 532.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control revealed this in a late night tweet via its official twitter handle.

Of the new cases reported, Lagos which is the epicenter of the pandemic recorded 156 new cases.

It is closely followed by Kano which recorded 65 new cases of the virus, Ogun recorded 57, Plateau-54, Oyo-53,Benue-43, FCT-30, Ondo-18, Kaduna-16, Akwa Ibom-13,Gombe-13, Rivers-12, Ekiti-9, Osun-8, Cross River-3, Borno and Edo state recorded two cases each while Bayelsa recorded just one case.

A total of 17,374 have been discharged while 858 people have died resulting from complications of COVID-19.

Nigeria keeps recording daily high cases of the disease despite efforts by the Presidential Task Force to flatten the curve of the disease.
