Nigerians should come together to fight the increasing rate of drug abuse among youths


Worried by the reported 14.4 percent drug use prevalence in Nigeria, which is higher than 5.5 percent global average, Afestac media in conjunction with Advocates for Global Peace Forum International, a leading United Nations civil society organisation and Afrorevo have launched a Campaign Against Drugs and Substance Abuse (CADSA) in Lagos themed “addiction and its challenges”.

The national chairman, advocacy for global peace forum international Uchenna Ojukwu who analyzed poverty as one of the factors that contribute to the growing rate of drug abuse in the society called on stakeholders to create ways to checkmate the menace of drug abuse among the youths.

Convener of CADSA Valentine Ugochukwu said the campaign raises awareness about the major challenges that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, especially to the young people.
