Nigeria to receive 176,000 doses of Johnson&Johnson vaccine on Wednesday

Nigeria is set to receive 176,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday.

This was made known by the Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, during a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Shuaib, the J&J vaccine is safe and efficient against the coronavirus disease, including the deadlier Delta variant adding that the J&J vaccine is a single-shot vaccine.

The delivery of the new type of vaccine is expected to boost Nigeria’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic especially the dreaded Delta variant.

The federal government had earlier announced that the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme would commence by August 16.
