Nigeria records 634 new infections, total now 154,476

Data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed that Nigeria recorded 634 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, making it exactly one week of reporting less than 700 daily cases.

This new tally brings the total infections in the country to 154,476.

The public health agency also registered six COVID-19 additional deaths, raising the total fatality in the country to 1,891.

The centre noted that the new infections were registered across 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Lagos State in the fore front after 259 infections, followed by Osun with 45, Edo, 38; and Ogun with 35 infections.

The FCT also confirmed 33 cases of the virus, Anambra had 26, Imo and Ondo confirmed 24 cases each, Akwa Ibom and Plateau had 20 cases each, Abia and Kaduna recorded 19 cases each and Ebonyi had 17 cases.

Others were Borno and Rivers with 10 cases each, Kano had nine, Delta reported eight, Kebbi reported seven, Nasarawa had four, Oyo reported three and two cases each were found in Enugu and Ekiti.

According to the centre, the number of people who have recovered and discharged on Thursday increased by 881, including 236 community recoveries in Lagos State and 79 in Imo, managed in line with its guidelines.
