Nigeria records 1,149 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 1,149 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the highest single-day toll since February 16 when the country recorded 1,572 cases.

The latest report by the Centre showed that the new cases were reported in 15 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Lagos, reported 680 cases, followed by Rivers with 157 infections, while Akwa Ibom is third on the chart with 94 cases.

Other States are Oyo – 56, Edo – 36, FCT – 34, Ogun – 31 and Ekiti – 20, Delta – 16, Abia – 5, Nasarawa – 5, Osun – 5, Cross River – 4, Plateau – 3, Sokoto – 2 and Kano – 1.

However, 279 patients were discharged after successful treatment on Wednesday, while seven persons succumbed to the virus.
