Nigeria gets samples of Russia’s Covid-19 vaccine

The federal government has received samples of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V.

Russia ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin, delivered the vaccine to Nigeria’s health Minister, Osagie Ehanire.

Russia in August became the first country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine before any data had been published or a large-scale trial begun.

Meanwhile, the Lancet in a recent article claimed that the results of two trials, conducted in June-July this year and involving 76 participants, showed 100% of participants developing antibodies to the new coronavirus.

It also adds that no serious side effects was recorded.
