Nigeria cuts visa application fee for US citizens

US citizens will now pay $160 instead of $270 to apply for  a Nigerian.

A statement released by Mohammed Manga, spokesman of the ministry of interior, announced that the visa fee of Americans had been reduced following a “tit for tat policy rolled out on Tuesday by the US consulate hiking visa fee for Nigerians

The consulate had explained that the extra cost would be applicable to only those whose visa requests were granted.

It had said while America charges Nigerians $160  for visa application, its citizens seeking Nigerian visa were paying $110 extra.

Reacting to the development, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola directed that US citizens should pay $160 for visa application with effect from Thursday.

The US consulate is however yet to withdraw the extra charges imposed on Nigerians.
