Santos captain Neymar has openly expressed his embarrassment following the team’s crushing 6-0 loss to Vasco da Gama on Sunday.
The Brazilian forward was unable to make an impact as Santos were soundly defeated by Vasco at the Estádio do Morumbi.
Vasco’s dominant display was highlighted by goals from Piton, David, P. Coutinho, Rayan, and Tchê Tchê, securing a comprehensive victory over Santos.
In his post-match comments, Neymar did not hold back, describing the result as a “disgrace.”
“We were absolutely terrible. It was disgraceful. Today, the fans have every right to express their anger and insult us,” Neymar told The TouchlineX following the defeat.
“I accept the criticism. I feel deeply ashamed. I’ve never gone through something like this in my entire career,” he added.
Santos are set to face Bahia in their next fixture on Sunday as they aim to bounce back from the heavy defeat.
