New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo resigns over harassment allegations

New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo has announced his resignation on Tuesday, a week after the New York attorney general’s investigations found that he sexually harassed multiple women.

In a live address, Cuomo said,

“I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to government.”

“My resignation will be effective in 14 days.”

The report disclosed that Cuomo harassed current and former state employees, as well as a number of women outside of state government but the 63-year-old has since denied the claims of sexual harassment.

He however said he wanted to “deeply, deeply apologize” to any woman who may have been offended by his actions claiming he is just a friendly person.

“I have been too familiar with people.””I do hug and kiss people casually, women and men. I have done it all my life.”

“In my mind I’ve never crossed the line with anyone.” “But I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn.”

Cuomo will be replaced by Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Hochul, who is also a Democrat.
