Nigeria on Wednesday recorded 559 COVID 19 cases. The surge in infection raises the country’s infection toll to 197,046.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the fresh infections were reported across 14 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
Other states that reported fresh infections include Oyo (28), Kaduna (25), FCT (24), Delta (22), Akwa Ibom (19), Kwara (18), Ekiti (13), Bayelsa (9), Cross River (9), Ogun (6), Kano (3) and Gombe (2).
Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic recorded 232 positive samples, followed by Rivers and Enugu with 83 and 66 cases respectively.
Meanwhile, five persons succumbed to the virus, bringing the total casualty figure to 2,578.
The NCDC said 220 patients were discharged, summing up all total recoveries in the country to 185,379.
