The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Thursday, announced that the country has recorded 2 new deaths and 150 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in Nigeria to 62,521.
The NCDC disclosed this on its verified Twitter handle on Thursday night.
According to the public health agency, the 150 new cases are reported from 9 states- Lagos leading with 89 cases, followed by Rivers 19, and Ogun 11. Others are Bayelsa (9), Kaduna (8), Plateau (8), Taraba (3), Osun (2), Delta (1).
Of the total 62,521 cases in Nigeria, 58,249 persons have been discharged and 1,141 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Nigeria has the fourth-highest number of cases in Africa, after South Africa, Egypt and Ethiopia and ranks 55th globally.
