NAPTIP arrests pharmacist for sodomy


The National Agency for The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested a 42-year-old pharmacist, Abubakar Danraka for alleged sodomy.

The suspect was arrested after he had anal sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old boy.

Head of NAPTIP’s Press and Public Relations Unit, Stella Nezan, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday.

Danraka who works at the National Hospital, Abuja as Chief Pharmacist is currently the Special Assistant (Technical) to the Director-General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja.

He is also an Imam in the Mosque within Spring Valley Estate in Abuja where he resides.

Narrating his ordeal, the victim said the incident took place on Saturday 21st March 2020 at the residence of the suspect.

According to him, after their religious educational programme (Islamiyya) that afternoon, he decided to check on his friend who happens to be a neighbour to the suspect. He said the suspect opened his own door and subsequently offered him a glass of water to drink.

The victim explained that he began to feel weak after drinking the water, and it was in the state of weakness he was assaulted by the suspect.

The suspect who is currently in NAPTIP’s custody has denied all the allegations, and investigations are still ongoing.
