Italian football club, Napoli has dismissed Carlo Ancelotti as manager despite the Champions League victory over Genk which saw the club secure qualification for the last 16.
The club made the announcement on Tuesday night, adding that there are no hard feelings between the club and Ancelotti.
“SSC Napoli has taken the decision to part ways with first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti.
“The friendship and mutual respect between the club, President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact,” the club wrote on their verified Twitter handle.
Ancelotti is now set to begin contract talks with English club, Everton.
According to reports in Italy, Napoli had lined up Gennaro Gattuso who was fired by AC Milan at the end of last season, as Ancelotti’s replacement.
Gattuso has also been linked with the vacant managerial positions at Arsenal and Everton.
