A Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet involved in the anti-terror war against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province has lost radar contact in Borno State and it’s whereabout is currently unknown.
According to a report by the force spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Alpha Jet lost radar contact on Wednesday evening while on an interdiction mission in support of ground troops fighting insurgency in Borno State.
He also added that rescue efforts are currently ongoing in a bid to rescue the jet as details of the whereabouts of the aircraft have yet to be ascertained.
Gabkwet however did not disclose the number of officers onboard the yet-to-be-found jet.
According to reports, the missing jet is an integral part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
