Nigerian youths have continued to occupy strategic locations across the country, to protest against police brutality and atrocities of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.
Pictures and videos that surfaced online showed the Muslim protesters holding their Ju’mat prayers on the road.
The #EndSARS protesters, who are agitating for police reforms have occupied the Lekki Toll gate and grounds near the state House of Assembly for nearly a week now.
This comes 24 hours after the Federal Capital Territory Security Committee directed that all street demonstrations, protests, and processions will not be allowed anywhere within its environs henceforth.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, on Thursday, the development became necessary due to the dangers posed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recall that the Lagos #EndSARS protesters were attacked by hoodlums on Thursday morning, causing injury of varying degrees to at least seven protesters.
