Monkeypox outbreak: Citizens, health officials must take proactive steps to curb disease – Minari


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC has confirmed 157 monkeypox cases across the country from January 1st to July 31st, 2022.

The NCDC in its situation report for week 30, said the cases were recorded across 26 states since January.

The health agency also recorded one new death, bringing the total number of monkeypox deaths in 2022 to four, the deaths were recorded from four states– Delta, Lagos, Ondo and Akwa Ibom.

Overall, since the re-emergence of the disease from September 2017 up to July 31st, a total of 925 suspected cases have been reported from 35 states in the country.
