A 23-year old Jamaican Psychology student, Toni-Ann Singh has been crowned Miss World 2019.
Singh was crowned by last year’s winner, Mexican Vanessa Ponce de Leon.
Miss France and Miss India also emerged runners-up in the beauty pageant.
It’s the first time in history that black women hold the titles for Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss World.
“To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica, and all the girls around the world, please believe in yourself,” Singh tweeted.
“Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine, but yours. You have a purpose,” she wrote.
Singh is the fourth Jamaican to win the title.
