Mikel Arteta is on the brink of being appointed Arsenal’s new manager.
According to reports, Arteta has agreed to replace Unai Emery and is now ready to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal after extensive negotiations in the past 48 hours.
In a pre-match conference, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also confirmed that Arteta is in talks with Arsenal but will still travel to Oxford on Wednesday night for their Sky Live Carabao Cup quarter-final.
Mikel Arteta has taken part in City’s training session on Tuesday and will be among the coaching staff.
“Today I saw him. Yes, he’s travelling [to Oxford on Wednesday], Guardiola told reporters.
“He’s talking with Arsenal so I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“When we have any new news I will know it and you will know it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has now returned to the United States after the concluded talks with Arterta.
