Many flee Afghanistan as Taliban prepares to take over

The Taliban are on the brink of taking power in Afghanistan after its fighters swept into the capital, Kabul making the country President, Ashraf Ghani flee the country.

Victorious Taliban fighters patrolled the streets of Kabul on Monday as thousands of Afghans make efforts to flee the group’s feared brutal rules.

Meanwhile, many nations are starting to evacuate their diplomats, citizens and some local Afghan staff.

According to Afghan’s local media, the airport has been the real crisis point of the roll-in of the Taliban as everybody is trying everything to flee the country.

There are also reports that asides from the airport being overcrowded, things has been relatively smooth as security forces have for the most part laid down their weapons.

A spokesman for Taliban’s political office, Mohammad Naeem who spoke to newsmen says the group does not want to live in isolation adding that  the type and form of the new govern ment in the country will be made clear soon.

He thereafter called for peaceful international relations.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council I set to discuss the situation in Afghanistan later on Monday.
