Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced a 25% reduction in the tuition fee of students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
The Governor made the announcement during an interactive session with the students in Ogbomosho on Wednesday maintaining that the reduction will cut across all students in the institution irrespective of their status and where they hail from.
Governor Makinde during his visit thanked the students for the warm reception they gave him even though he hasn’t visited the institution since 2019 when he was canvassing for votes in the governorship election.
He said, “I am glad to be back among you. After the 2019 election, I should have returned to say thank you to you but I didn’t want to come until I fulfill what I promised you, which is the sole ownership of LAUTECH by Oyo State.
The governor also inaugurated a High Dependency Unit of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while reassuring the re-engaged 170 staff of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital who were relieved of their employment by the previous administration that they will be paid their five months salary arrears.
The government of Osun and Oyo states reached an agreement to dissolve the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) and Ladoke Akintola College of Health where LAUTECH’s ownership was transferred to Oyo State government while the College of Health’s ownership was transferred to Osun State.
