LUTH TO PERFORM FIRST BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT AS IT MARKS 60TH ANNIVERSARY

The Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH has announced the readiness to perform its first bone marrow transplant for the cure of sickle cell anemia as part of the events lined up to mark the 60th anniversary of the topmost medical institution.

Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Chris Bode who disclosed this at a press briefing in Lagos while unveiling the 3-month long anniversary said a number of other landmark projects will also be commissioned.

Speaking on the achievement of the hospital over the years, the CMD who said LUTH has remained one of the best teaching and specialist hospitals in the country.

He also revealed that a new 30-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will soon be completed and put to use, while a new outpatient complex is presently under construction.
