The Lagos State Government has declared that the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state which was triggered by the new Omicron variant is over.
This was made known by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Saturday.
In the tweet, the Commissioner says the consistent decrease in COVID-19 case positivity indicates the end of the fourth wave in the state adding that the government is now focused on getting more people to take the Covid-19 vaccines.
He further explained that there was a reduction in positivity rates of Covid-19 infection from 29.3% recorded on December 21, to 1.9% on January 20. He also put bed capacity utilization at only 2% and fatality rate at 0.71%.
