Lagos building collapse: Building industry has been dominated by quacks – Adetona


Crushed building blocks, bent iron rods, excavating machines and a gathering of onlookers, residents and officials of government have become the usual scenario in many of Nigeria’s incidents of building collapses.

The latest incident which occurred at the Sand field bustop, Oba Idowu Oniru, in the Lekki area of Lagos Island has led to the death of six persons.

Speaking to journalists, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency responded to a distress call at the location in the early hours of Sunday.

On his part, the Coordinator, Lagos Territorial District, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the recovered bodies have been deposited at a morgue for autopsy.
