There is palpable fear among residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after suspected terrorists launched an attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the facility at about 10:20 pm on Tuesday night when what was suspected to be a high-calibre bomb went off, followed by two more explosions and an ensuing sporadic gunfire attack that sent residents scampering for safety.

Meanwhile, security agencies say the situation is now under control.
