Beyond kidnapping for ransom, prison attacks in Nigeria have become one of the country’s most frequent security threats.
The nation has reported more than twelve jailbreaks in five years, with over 4000 inmates escaping in the process.
The recent attack on the Kuje Correctional facility adds to the growing number of prison escapees roaming freely.
All of these have raised questions on why the attacks on prisons have seen a steady rise and what the government has failed to do to stop these attacks.
