English League One side Barnsley have confirmed the departure of Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali.
The club says the 28-year-old has left Oakwell by mutual consent, with the move still awaiting approval from the English Football League.
“We can confirm that Kelechi Nwakali has departed Oakwell by mutual consent, subject to EFL approval,” the club said in a statement published on its official website.
Nwakali joined Barnsley in 2024 following his departure from Portuguese club Chaves.
During his time with the Reds, the midfielder featured 30 times across competitions, including 12 league starts during the 2024/2025 campaign.
His next destination is expected to be Cyprus, where he is set to join AC Omonia.
The move would mark another chapter in the career of the former Arsenal academy player as he looks to continue his professional career outside England.
