ISWAP claims responsibility for Kuje prison attack


The Islamic State  West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack on Kuje Prison in Abuja on Tuesday night.

In a footage on Wednesday night, the terrorist sect showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility to free hundred of inmates there.

The short video showed several fighters  marching in groups and shouting God is great in the Arabic language while vehicles and part of the prison were on fire.

The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency released the video with the caption in Arabic: “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.”

Suspected terrorists had stormed the Kuje Prison bombing the gates and the walls to gain entrance where they freed over 800 inmates.

The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashir confirmed that all the Boko Haram suspects in custody escaped.

President Muhammadu Buhari had visited the Correctional facility where he expressed deep disappointment with the security arrangement in place and criticised the security agencies for failing to prevent the attack from happening.
