Int’l day of victims of slavery: UN urges citizens across the world to stand against racism

The United Nation has urged citizens across the world to stand united against racism and together build societies based on dignity, equality and solidarity.

UN Secretary General, Antonio Gutteres said this in his address to commemorate The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Trans-atlantic Slave Trade across the world on Wednesday.

Gutteres explained that even though slavery has been abolished several years ago, people of African descent continue to confront racial discrimination, marginalization and exclusion.

He maintained that everyone should endeavor to stand up in solidarity against racism everywhere
