INEC deploys 451 officers for Kwara Assembly bye-election 


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  says it has deployed 451 personnel for the Saturday by-election in Patigi Constituency in Kwara State. 

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in the state, Attahiru Madami revealed that the commission had received sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the election. 

He confirmed that 43,695 permanent voter cards had been collected while the remaining 7,781 uncollected PVCs were kept in the Central Bank. 

“We will deploy at least three-card reader machines in each polling unit in order to guide against any challenges,” he added. 

Only a female candidate is among the six contestants who will vie for election to produce a candidate that will represent Patigi constituency in the State House of Assembly which became vacant as a result of the death of the late Saidu  Rufai of All Progressives Congress who died on December 3, 2019. 

Madami said that the six political parties that had candidates for the election were Alliance Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, APC, Allied Peoples Movement, Nigeria National Peoples Part and Peoples Democratic Party.
